About True Japan Food Tour
True Japan Food was created to share the side of Japanese cuisine most travelers never see.
Japan is famous for sushi and ramen, but everyday food culture is much deeper — it lives in small neighborhood restaurants where locals gather after work, laugh with friends, and enjoy simple, delicious dishes.
Our tours are designed to take you beyond tourist restaurants and into the places Japanese people actually love.
Founded by a passionate local foodie with international experience, True Japan Food bridges cultures through food.
After exploring in the United States and Australia, I realized many visitors only experience a small part of Japanese cuisine. I started these tours to show what real local dining looks like — authentic gyoza, tempura udon, yakitori, and traditional sweets enjoyed in casual, welcoming spaces.
This is not just a food tour. It’s a cultural experience.
About
My name is Ryu(Lyu)
I’ve always loved discovering great food. Japan is famous for sushi, ramen, and teppanyaki, but there are many casual and delicious dishes that most visitors never experience. I created this tour to share the real, everyday food culture that Japanese people enjoy after work with friends and coworkers.
I studied in the United States, lived in Australia for a year, and traveled across the USA. These experiences helped me understand different cultures and what travelers are truly looking for. My goal is to introduce authentic Japanese food in a way that feels natural, welcoming, and genuinely local.
